Cottage Hoard Uncovered!

Back from the cottage. Less progress than expected - the devil is always in the details. Still, the prototype cuirass is approaching completion. Details to be posted soon-ish.

What's going on here?

Once upon a time, I was documenting my quest to reproduce a Newstead-style "lorica segmentata", a type of body armour worn by roman legionaries around the late 2nd & early 3rd century AD. I started with some cold-rolled steel, brass sheets and rods, some used leather, a variety of other people's instructions, and a whole pile of tools.

I abandoned my prototype without completing it, but have now returned to it 5 years later.
